But ok, except have you actually tried Spindrift? Specifically the raspberry lime flavor? It’s the Queen of Fizzy Water! It’s so precious it doesn’t even come in the Costco 24-pack! “Over five real whole raspberries in every can!”
Spindrift, I feel, deserves our utmost respect. It’s made with real fruit juice, which no other fizzy waters are. I love it. I feel like I’m really splashing out and going wild every time I get it.
I actually really like Spindrift!! but for a few months a few years ago, someone tried to turn off all other fizzy options for "health" and simply replace them with these, and now, even though I like how spindrift tastes, all i feel is my eyes narrowing when I see them!! there is something wrong with me for sure
ha no they decided Spindrift was "cool" and healthy re: juice inside them, and because Spindrift is also carbonated they thought "I will replace every other carbonated water option with Spindrift and become a hero"
It didn't last, but the spindrift damage for me was done
Oh man, I was the guy that used to buy 12 packs of a variety of things I and the few other folks in the office liked - Coke, Sprite, ginger ale (it was a while ago, and memory's dimmed a bit). It was a small satellite office - maybe 5 of us at most. I didn't charge anything either, but people would throw 50 cents a can in a beat up plastic cup. I'd restock, and it made things nice.
It was about 12 years ago that I transferred from that company to another, (contract issue), my friend & office neighbor said "I won't know when anyone's here because I won't be hearing you crack open a Coke in the morning!"
The last few years I've been a home maker/trophy husband and we have a beverage fridge (!) with Canada Dry plain, Mandarin orange seltzer (and lemon-lime ready to go when space opens up) Coke, Coke Zero, Topo Chico, small root beer cans, a few stray Pellegrino cans, and Dr. Pepper, for when I want to channel Cher, which is, let's face it, all the time.
I LOVE limoncello, but I strongly believe it is a Morning Beverage, as in I only want it with my second (and last) cup of black coffee for absolutely no reason. Lemon is my work bev of choice because just TRY getting an office manager to agree to stock the "weird" flavors of la croix, and lemon is an all-purpose, all-day kind of drink, ya know? <3 <3
I've never had casual beer in the fridge at work, but i DID work somewhere VERY fancy (Hyatt's 2015 insanely posh downtown Chicago headquarters) with free high-end espresso machines on every floor, fridges full of alternative milks, delicately thin porcelain mugs, saucers, and espresso cups that i absolutely stole, a friggin guy who pushed a cart around every night to CLEAR THE DISHES FROM YOUR DESK, and mandatory-feeling "Champagne Fridays", where we all went downstairs at 3 PM for champagne!!!
My boss was a lesbian who dressed SO COOL and when my contract was up, they tried to hire me, and if I hadn't been DEAD-SET on leaving the city within the year I would still be there, typing this to you from my silken cage, right now
My husband recently had a Topo Chico lime from a Casey's in WI, and I remembered reading that the bubbles are very small, somehow, which leads to a different taste? He liked it, so he's now on the hunt to see what flavors he can find. His all time favorite is a Limoncello LaCroix, which I feel like is a softer, vanilla-lemon, which is a nice change of pace.
I will say that Waterloo has some interesting flavors, including a Guy Fieri collab with a spicy mango that I was too scared to try.
Where's the love for Diet Dr Pepper? They also do different flavors, a friend gave me a strawberries and cream version that kind of needs to be had on its own, due to the sweetness.
And in Chicago in the 80s, there was Canfield's Diet Chocolate Fudge, which my father loved so much he got his office to stock it in the pop machine (no free pop in those days).
I ADORE Topo Chico but have never encountered this in an office setting! And I am basically married to Diet Dr Pepper (my mom was obsessed with it for my entire life) but no offices will stock the cans, which is the only way i want it! Also this Canfield's Diet situation: is this still made??? would absolutely drink!💕💕
Sadly the Smartwell died as a pandemic victim but when I started at my last job we had one of those - it was essentially a Coke freestyle machine for water, with flavors, carbonation and additions like caffeine and electrolytes!
The Bevi is basically its successor (made by a different company) but I've only seen those at super bougie stores.
I’m shocked by the love for limoncello lacroix here, but okay, weirdos. Bubly sucks, with you there. The bubble structure is all wrong. I’ve never worked somewhere with free bevvies beyond coffee/tea but I used to have my wife smuggle me home the fun stuff (coconut water! Kombucha!) from her tech job.
The hell that is office coffee is so real. Also i would argue that diet coke belongs above la croix because the mere fact of its "fridge cigarette" status in a corporate setting brings me joy
I'm a spindrift apologist but whoever stocks our vending machine (NOT free) has the energy drink taste of a 15 year old boy so when I really wanna feel like I'm electrified at work I have to bring yerb from home :-(
Love this.

Wait, what? They were like “Bubly is healthy but La Croix is not?”

What a disaster. This person is not cool.
I'm not a tea person as a rule but office tea is way better than office coffee.
you are absolutely right, in full agreement💕

An office hero!!! a home hero!! LOVE the beverage fridge, also TOPO CHICO YES
My addition: Red Bull belongs between water and office-made coffee because it makes my life worse if *anyone* in the office is drinking it
whoooooa i have NEVER seen someone drinking red bull at work. AT WORK????
I wholeheartedly agree with this hierarchy, except... instead of LaCroix lemon, have you tried limoncello?

Fair point. I will drink limoncello all day, personally, though it does sound divine paired with a cup of black coffee.
Another vote for Limoncello!
What about going out for Boba tea? Or is that a snack.
it's both and it's definitely ideal!!!💕
I’ve heard stories about offices that have beer in the fridge on Fridays. What’s that about? Is it great? It *sounds* great, but is it?
I've never had casual beer in the fridge at work, but i DID work somewhere VERY fancy (Hyatt's 2015 insanely posh downtown Chicago headquarters) with free high-end espresso machines on every floor, fridges full of alternative milks, delicately thin porcelain mugs, saucers, and espresso cups that i absolutely stole, a friggin guy who pushed a cart around every night to CLEAR THE DISHES FROM YOUR DESK, and mandatory-feeling "Champagne Fridays", where we all went downstairs at 3 PM for champagne!!!

the "delicately thin" is sending me, thank you for this
Whoa…silken cage indeed.
Very normal here in UK. 5pm Friday beers. Never during working hours.
!!!!! should we move???
Haha maybe!!

Google tells me it's gone, there had been a version from Polar water but that's gone too.
Topo Chico is tasty! I'm partial to the tangerine. Very refreshing!
IT'S SO GOOD my god, so painfully fizzy!!

My office has one of those freestyle water machines RIGHT NOW!!! I love it!
Full sugar Pepsi forever my friend! I've never worked anywhere that stocks it.
Listen to this terribleness. My current employer, in a turn towards "health", now stocks only Coke/Pepsi Zero products on campus.
Full sugar Pepsi is delicious and you're right, I've never seen this at a Place of Work, ever!
Also oh god, let the people make their own decisions!!
