I would be hard pressed to choose between the dog and the rug. We've endured the same issue, too. Sneaky peeing. Bah!

I feel in my bones I've only got one more car wash in me for this rug, ugh! Sorry to hear about your sneaky pee-er!

Yes the crate! (I was holding my breath through the entire article thinking please put in in the crate please put him in the crate!) this is good for him too. It protects him from doing things that get him in trouble.

Ohhhh yes, Teddy is a Crate Boi! Literally crated anytime we leave the house. He's just such a cute sleeper; we were trying to preserve the night with him. NO MORE, though, he's BANISHED👹

I’m doing a bunch of Googling rn, and one forum from 2011 (complete with custom emojis!) had someone claim that they were informed that Persian rugs in particular are sometimes processed with animal urine during the dye process, and that could attract dogs to it if the scent of the wool isn’t already doing so? I can’t verify that claim, though, which is driving me bonkers!

(Also, a crate-trained dog is a happy dog, so good for you!! He looks like a herding mix for sure, super cute!)

I have my own wool rug horror story… Got a beautiful one online about a decade ago. No peeing on it (to my knowledge!!), but it shed like crazy, and after a stint in an indoor but basement-y storage area in a previous apartment, it…had little moths? And it took me years to figure out that the little moths were coming from that fucking rug. I still don’t think my Miele is completely rid of them, so it lives in a big Sterilite bin while I figure out what to do with it. The synthetic rug we stored with it never had that issue! I’m never trusting a wool rug again. 🥲
